New features
Set a flat fee for your Project
Set the attorney fee before you post. Lawyers apply at that fee, and you see the full cost before you hire.
Set the fee before applications arrive
Small-business clients can set the attorney fee when posting a flat-fee Project. Lawyers see that amount when applying, and the posted fee carries through to hiring.
When this is useful
Use a flat fee when you can describe a defined scope and deliverable. For example, a clearly bounded document review is easier to price when the expected output is written down first.
The problem it solves
Publishing the fee alongside the scope gives both sides the same starting point. The separate cost breakdown also shows the difference between the attorney fee and the client’s total project cost.
Before you publish
The posted fee and scope lock once the first application or hire request arrives. Use the amounts shown for your own Project; an illustrated example is not a quote. Fixed-fee worklogs record activity without adding hourly charges to the agreed fee.
Share files before hiring
Send documents in your Project conversation before hiring a lawyer.

Share the document behind the discussion
Clients and lawyers can attach files to an active pre-hire Project conversation. Use this to share the draft, brief or supporting document someone needs to understand the proposed work.
The problem it solves
A description alone may leave important details out. Keeping the file in the conversation lets both people discuss the same material before deciding whether to work together.
File limits and access
Pre-hire messages accept PDF, Word, PNG and JPEG files, up to 10 files per message and 10 MB each. Earlier conversations marked read-only remain read-only. If sending fails, the composer retains attachments so you can retry.
Schedule interviews in your Project
Schedule an interview from a candidate or message thread. Keep the request, the details, and the call link in your Project.

Move from a profile to a conversation
Clients can request an interview from a Project candidate or message thread. The Project’s Interviews tab keeps requests, scheduled calls and completed interviews together.
When this is useful
Use an interview to discuss the scope, relevant experience and availability before hiring. Starting from the candidate keeps the scheduling request connected to the person you are reviewing.
A request is not a confirmed meeting
Check the request’s status before treating a proposed time as booked. New interview requests require an eligible hiring Project and the appropriate candidate action.
Improvements
Find agreements in Project Files
Talent can find the agreement for the engagement alongside the files shared in its Project conversations.
An example talent agreement opens from the Files tab of its Project.

More about this change
Find the paperwork for the engagement
Talent can find the matching engagement’s agreement in Project Files, alongside documents from its associated hiring conversations.
When this is useful
Use Files when you need to revisit what was agreed or reopen a document shared earlier. Matching the agreement to the engagement helps keep the paperwork with the work it belongs to.
If the document is unavailable
Only documents available to your account appear. Check the Project and document name. If the browser blocks a new window, allow it for app.lawtrades.com and retry; contact support if the document still cannot open.
Keep message drafts between Project tabs
Step out of Messages to check your Project, then come back to the conversation you were writing.
A message draft remains in place after switching to Files and back within the same Project.

More about this change
Check a detail without starting your message again
Switching tabs within the same supported Project now preserves the message composer and its uploads. You can check Overview or Files, then return to the draft you were writing.
The problem it solves
Writing a useful reply often means looking up the scope or a document. Preserving the composer makes that lookup part of the conversation instead of a reason to rewrite it.
What is preserved
This applies to tab switching within the same Project. It does not promise recovery after a page reload or closing the browser. Talent can also use View project scope from Messages to check the recorded engagement scope.
Fixes
Keep weekly reminders through refresh errors
A temporary refresh failure no longer hides a pending weekly review that was already visible. You get a retry prompt instead.
More about this change
A refresh error no longer hides a known reminder
If a weekly-review reminder has already found time that needs confirmation, a temporary refresh failure keeps that reminder visible and offers a retry.
The problem it solves
A failed refresh should not make an outstanding review look finished. The reminder and error now remain distinct, so you can tell that the status needs another check.
Who this affects
This applies to eligible Enterprise hourly engagements with weekly confirmation enabled. It does not confirm time automatically. The reminder resets when the account or review week changes and clears if access is no longer available.
