For signed-in personal Agent chats with Word editing available. Controls appear only on eligible completed drafts; Use in chat may not be available for every account.
Start with a message
The answer opens in Lawtrades’ document editor, in your browser. This does not open Microsoft Word or Word for the web. You are editing a clean copy of the Agent answer; the original chat answer and any uploaded source file stay unchanged.
- Ask Agent to write a memo, letter, or another draft. For example: “Draft a memo summarizing these contract risks, with a recommendation and three next steps.” Include the facts or source material Agent should use.
- When the answer is complete, choose Edit & download Word below the eligible answer. If you already opened that draft in this chat view, choose Open document.
- Edit the wording directly in the document. Use Undo if you need to reverse an edit.
Download a Word copy
Edits are local to this chat view. Back to chat hides the editor; Open document returns to the same draft while you remain in the view. Download a copy before leaving or refreshing the chat.
- Choose Download Word to download a .docx copy of your current draft.
- Open the downloaded file in Microsoft Word or another compatible editor. Check the wording and formatting before sharing it.
Bring those edits into the conversation
Use in chat adds a return trip to the Word editing flow: it attaches the version you edited so Agent can work from it. You do not need to download and upload the file yourself. Your unsent text stays in the message box, and you still choose Send.
- Choose Use in chat in the document editor.
- Wait for Edited Word draft.docx to appear beside the message box in the same conversation.
- Add your next request. For example: “Turn the attached edited memo into a three-bullet team update. Use my revised recommendation.”
- Check the attachment and question, then choose Send.
Keep or change the attached copy
Use in chat attaches a copy of the draft at that moment. If you make more edits afterward, remove the earlier attachment and use the updated draft in chat again.
Attaching the draft does not send it to a colleague. To share it outside Agent, download the .docx and attach it using your usual sharing app.
If the control is unavailable
Word editing appears only for eligible completed drafts in supported signed-in personal Agent chats. If Use in chat is available for your account, it appears in this editor. This is separate from the editor for an uploaded document.
Remove existing chat attachments before adding an edited Word draft. If preparation fails, your edits remain in the editor: try again or choose Download Word.
